Mind Travelers' Aquarium is an interactive public art project by Sayuri Sasaki Hemann.
Through her language of materials, Sayuri will transform the Fountain Lobby at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics into a vibrant aquarium filled with rich textures, light and imagined life. A latest addition to her ongoing Urban Aquarium project, she explores the idea of displacement and context.
Connecting through the exhibit, various free public workshops and events, Sayuri seeks to create a shared experience that lets all minds travel through water, waves and light, imagined or real, or somewhere in between...
Support for Mind Travelers Aquarium is provided by the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the City of Iowa City Public Art Program.
